INITIAL EVALUATION OF A REAL-TIME ERGONOMIC POSTURE ASSESSMENT SYSTEM IN LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY

Abstract Introduction The objective of this study is to perform an initial evaluation a system for assessment and visual feedback the surgeon's posture during laparoscopic practice. Methods In order monitor posture, we used XSens motion tracking system. neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist joints were analyzed A method was designed using Unity3D which indicates in real time if any suffers from inadequate allowing its possible correction. evaluated with group seven novice surgeons who performed several repetitions two basic training tasks (eye-hand coordination transfer). participants randomly organized into (4 subjects), received feedback, B (3 as control group. Results Regarding task, exhibited lower ergonomically inappropriate left shoulder being significant posture. Similarly, showed positive evolution process different joints. transfer both groups presented evolution. Conclusions Preliminary results show that allows improve their use non-dominant hand complexity task seem be conditioning aspects ergonomics.
